One of the best bikes for leisure-filled rides is a beach cruiser bike. These beach cruiser bicycles are set up in a way that riders are able to sir more upright without leaning forward to the handlebars. Since this is the case, stress on the back can be greatly reduced. Their purpose is not to ride very fast. They are more for enjoying the ride or for “cruising” around.

When choosing a beach cruiser bike, there are things that you need to consider. The most important would be the speed and the kind of material it is made from.

When it comes to speed, you will only choose between single speed and multi-speed. Before choosing between the two, you need to first ask yourself – Where will you be riding the bike? What type of terrain will you most probably encounter throughout the ride? A single speed cruiser works best on flat or sandy terrains. Just take note that this is a good option if you won’t be riding very fast for prolonged periods. Get one that has a basic coaster brake. That’s since they usually don’t have gears you can use for shifting.

A multiple speed bike, on the other hand, is best for those who love the hilly terrain. It is also the best option if you will ride longer distances. Beach cruiser bicycles with multiple gears usually have three to seven speeds. The good thing about multiple speed bikes is the more gears they have; you get more options for pedal resistance and efficiency. If you will get a three-speed, you’ll just have a low to high speed. Six to seven speed bikes operate in almost the same fashion but there are more possibilities. There are also those that feature grip shifters. For these bikes, the shifting mechanism becomes part of the hand grip’s inner portion. You will just twist the grip when you want to shift speeds.

As for the kind of material the beach cruiser is made from, you can choose between steel or aluminum. Keep in mind that you also need to consider the area where you live. Those who live near the beach should consider an aluminum-framed bike with alloy rims. This is because aluminum is more resistant to rust as compared to steel. They are also lighter. So if you want a smoother ride, steel is a better option.

The rims can also vary. They can be made from alloy or steel. Among the two, aluminum offers a better braking surface. Stainless steel spokes are also noted to offer good strength. Alloy rim are also more resistant to rust and lighter than steel. Thus, beach cruiser bikes with no handbrakes or a coaster brake choosing between alloy and steel doesn’t really matter.

There are different types of beach cruiser bikes to choose from. There are also lots of ladies bike options you can find on the Net.
